Once upon a time (1980-ish), in a place far away (Salina, KS), a little girl named Molly became friends with another little girl named Misty. They played together on the playground at St. Mary’s, went to slumber parties, and all of the other things that little girls do.
Then, in 1988, Molly’s parents dragged her kicking and screaming to an unknown place called Indianapolis. And most of her Salina friends became only a memory. Sadly, Misty was one of those friends.
Life happened and then… the Facebook was invented. I got a window into Misty’s exciting NYC life and got to read her blog as her family of two became a family of three. And then, a family of four. It has been a beautiful thing to watch.
In March, I went to NYC to meet Misty’s family and take some photos. But alas, the airline and the city of Cleveland had other plans. We missed our opportunity to take photos, but did a quick 25 year catch-up over some wine in her charming Hell’s Kitchen hood.
As fate would have it, I returned to the NY in April and we finally made it happen. It was my true pleasure to spend a few hours with Misty, her lovely husband, Sam, and the ever fabulous Samaire and Wylie. Perfection.
Thank you, friend. Here’s to many more play dates…
