less than three | thanksgiving 2012

I’m just home from our family Thanksgiving.  Family is such an interesting word, right?  There’s your family-family.  And then there’s the family you acquire over the course of your life—the people who end up becoming as important to you as the family you were born into.  I’m grateful for them.  Life is good.

It’s all about perspective.  Today, I woke up in a warm bed with a snoring beagle.  I am loved.  I have two healthy parents.  I have the privilege of doing a job that inspires me.  I am blessed to help people capture the most important moments of their lives.  It’s a good gig.  I am surrounded by wise and wonderful people.  I’m amazed every day by how much there is to learn.

There are struggles, but I am happy.  There are tears, but then there are laughs.  I am surrounded by inspiring people who make me a better human.  I am grateful.  I am busier than I can imagine and there are days that it overwhelms me more than I know what to do with.  I have joy and heartache, I have anxiety and triumph, I have ups and downs.  The aggregate is good, though.  And I am blessed.

So, here is my annual “less than three” list.  It’s shorter this year than it’s been in the past, but only because I’m busier than ever.  It’s important to me, however, to take a few moments and remind myself of the things that I love.  Life is good.  I’m grateful.

Instagram.  Obviously, Instagram is the greatest thing to happen to my phone in a long time.  As a matter of fact, this entire post is brought to you by my life in Instagram photos.  If you’re not following me, I will give you two minutes to correct that: @molconnor.

The Award Tour.  (cue A Tribe Called Quest)  This year, I traveled.  A lot.  I worked hard.  I had an amazing year.  I played hard.  I logged a lot of miles.  I stayed in amazing hotels and ate amazing food.  I laughed, I slept, I had adventures.  I am a lucky girl.

Pin IT Drugs.  I’m thankful for drugs.  The legal kind.  Albeit shitty, my Rx coverage has helped me through one hell of a drug induced year.  Here’s to you, CVS.  And eff you, shingles.

Cocktails.  I’m a single 36-year old small business owner.  Cocktails are imperative.  Luckily, my friends agree.

My vote.  So grateful for my vote.

My best girl.  Sweet Lucy Jane is as good as it gets.  Every damn day, this girl greets me at the door with a nasty stuffed frog dangling from her teeth.  She brings me raw hides when I cry and wakes me up at night while she’s dreaming of chasing a rabbit.  She is my truest love.

Sweet Tess.  When your best friend gives birth to the coolest kid in town, it’s a pretty sweet deal.  She’s my mini-soulmate.  I will love her every day—for always.  Game on, little girl.

Being a bridesmaid.  So, it turns out weddings are SUPER fun when you get to have your hair and make-up done, get blinged out and don’t have to carry around 20 pounds of cameras.  Thank you, D.

My studio.  It’s pretty rad.  It freaks me out.  It makes me feel grown-up.  It has a bed and a couch and some amazing natural light.  I love it there.

My man.  I photographed a Super Bowl party and ran into my boyfriend.  I took this photo.  Never mind the guy from 30 Rock.  This photo is in a frame next to my bed.  Odd?  Maybe.  But, I love him.  Enough said.

My friends.  Most importantly, my friends.  You are amazing.  You are my family.  You keep me happy, and sane, and mostly rational and always strong.  I love all of you.
