laura and ronnie | indianapolis wedding photographer

I’ve known Laura forever. Her dad is a friend of mine. And even before I knew her in real life, the stories of her strength of character always amazed me. When he was ready to propose, Ronnie called me and with the help of Laura’s dad, we orchestrated a scene at White River State Park to capture the proposal. Their engagement session at The Indianapolis Art Center was one of my favorites. So, I just knew this wedding, where Ronnie married Laura and sweet Nicholas, would be amazing.

But, it’s my most favorite “father of the bride sees his daughter for the first time” moment:

Laura and Ronnie are deaf. The met at Gallaudet University in Maryland. They were originally going to do a first look. But, just before the wedding, she messaged me that she wanted to skip the first look and do a surprise song for Ronnie. She was going to stand at the end of the aisle and sign the lyrics to A Thousand Years by Christina Perri. There was not a dry eye in the house (photographers and wedding planner included) and it was a surprise to everyone in attendance. It went like this.

Heart beats fast… colors and promises. How to be brave? How can I love when I’m afraid to fall? But watching you stand alone, all of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow.
I have died every day waiting for you. Darling, don’t be afraid… I have loved you for a thousand years. I’ll love you for a thousand more.

Time stands still… beauty in all she is. I will be brave. I will not let anything take away what’s standing in front of me. Every breath, every hour has come to this.
And all along I believed I would find you. Time has brought your heart to me. I have loved you for a thousand years. I’ll love you for a thousand more.

I have some to appreciate that, together, their personalities combine to form not only an unbreakable bond, but also two individuals with the kindest souls.”

Cheers, you two.
